CWONJ Hits the Jackpot with Casino Night Event
The Car Wash Operators of New Jersey (CWONJ) rolled out a Casino Night event on December 5 at the Crowne Plaza in Monroe. The first-time event hit the jackpot, according to CWONJ President Doug Karvelas. "The membership loved it," said Karvelas. "They had a great time gambling and talking with other operators and suppliers. It was a huge success."
The evening was facilitated by a company on Long Island that specializes in casino night events. Each attendee was given $1,000 in CWONJ phony money in which to gamble. The evening included black jack, crapps and poker/Texas Hold'em. The group also enjoyed a cash bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres. "We tried to make it fun and different," said Karvelas. "I think we were successful!"
The association's new officer slate for 2007 was also voted in during the event. The 2007 board includes President Doug Karvelas, Vice President Mike Prudente, Secretary Gerry Barton and Treasurer Dick Zodikoff. Bill Howell is the newest CWONJ board member.
The event was wrapped up with an auction the attendees could participate in by selecting prizes with a voucher from the money they won gambling. "The prizes were a bit hit," said Karvelas. "We had a Sirius satellite radio system, a digital camera and a portable DVD player, for example. It was just great!" Innovative Control Systems of Wind Gap, PA, was the event prize sponsor.
The association's next event will be held at Ray Catena Motors in Union on February 6. The meeting will feature a tour of the company's newest state-of-the-art facility that will be displaying some classic and rare cars in addition to its high-end vehicles. The event will be catered.
